The World Freedom Network (WFN) has launched its Asia arm and appointed Helen Avadiar-Nimbalker as the Director of Asia Freedom Network (AFN). This marks a significant milestone in their on-going mission to combat slavery and human trafficking across the diverse and complex continent of Asia.

Helen Avadiar-Nimbalker, a native of Malaysia, is a dedicated human rights advocate and a survivor empowerment champion with an extensive experience as a trauma therapist.
Residing now in Chiang Mai, Thailand, she and her husband Vincent lead an exceptional team of survivors who are at the forefront of grassroots efforts, actively combating exploitation and human trafficking. Through their organization, Helen has witnessed first-hand the transformative power of survivor inclusion and the strength that comes from collaboration in creating sustainable change. She passionately advocates for the power of survivor leadership and actively works towards implementing more survivor-inclusive strategies.

Helen is the visionary force behind The Voice Wagon, an organization committed to raising awareness and implementing preventive measures against human trafficking. Through her unwavering dedication, Helen has mobilized diverse stakeholders and empowered communities to actively participate in the fight against slavery and exploitation. As an entrepreneur, Helen has founded various freedom businesses that provide employment opportunities and trainings to empower individuals economically, creating a sustainable environment that promotes resilience and independence.

“It is an honour to be appointed as the Director for Asia and lead Asia Freedom Network,” Helen stated. AFN’s mission is to strengthen collaborations, create a unified front against exploitation, and promote effective preventive measures, policy changes and awareness about the root causes of human trafficking. Through trauma-informed support structures, close cooperation with law enforcement and policymakers, and the implementation of impactful transformations, AFN aims to address the issue of slavery comprehensively. Helen firmly believes that together, a tangible difference can be made in the lives of the exploited.
